Behavioral Health Laboratory

Core Assesment
The core assessment of the Behavioral Health Lab is a structured telephone interview that takes, on average, 15-20 minutes. The interview is conducted by Health Technicians and is completed by direct entry of data in a computer program designed for ease of use with simple entry screens. A lab report of the outcome of the interview can be generated for each patient at the completion of the assessment.
The interview is comprised of the following assessments:
Demographic variables
Current care (i.e. whether followed in mental health, location of primary care)
Financial status
Social support
Blessed Orientation-Memory-Concentration (BOMC; administered to patients over 55 to detect cognitive impairment)
MINI International Neuropsychiatric Interview Modules for:
- Psychosis
- Mania
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder
- Panic Disorder
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Alcohol Abuse/ Dependence
- Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9; a brief depression severity measure)
- Current antidepressant medications
- 5-item Paykel Scale for suicide ideation
- Alcohol use, using a 7-day time line follow-back method
- Use of illicit substances
- History of past episodes of depression
- Bed days
- Medical Outcomes (SF-12)
- 4-item Patient Satisfaction Scale
