HOW THE BHL CAN HELP

• The BHL assessment helps differentiate responsible drinking from at-risk drinking in those who screened positive on the AUDIT-C.
• The BHL will provide the Primary Care Clinician with a comprehensive assessment.
• The BHL identifies the need for further follow-ups or issues that can be discussed at the next primary care visit.
  • In some centers, the BHL can deliver Brief Interventions or target early interventions to help engage patients.
• Assessment by the BHL will also allow rapid triage for those who need referrals to the Mental Health Clinic or Alcohol Clinic.
