From the north (or Albany Airport) to Albany
Take the Northway, I-87 South. Approaching Exit
1, stay in left lane. Pass the Route 87/90 exit and
Crossgates exit. When road ends at traffic light,
take left turn onto Western Avenue (Route 20).
Continue on Western for several miles. After
passing Manning Boulevard, stay in the right-hand
lane. Western splits into Western on the left and
Madison on the right. Take the right fork onto
Madison and continue until you reach New
Scotland Avenue (Ralph's Tavern on the corner).
Turn right onto New Scotland Avenue, go past two
traffic lights, and the entrance to the VA will be on
the left. Parking lot entrances will be on the right
side of the roadway. Park in Lot A (no charge).
From the south to Albany
Take Exit 23 from the NYS Thruway. After the toll
booth, take the immediate ramp on the right to
Route 9W. Take left at traffic light on Route 9W.
Follow Route 9W north signs to Delaware Avenue
(Stewarts Shop on the right corner). Make a right
onto Delaware Avenue. Take left turn onto Holland
Avenue (Morton to the right and Holland Avenue to
the left). Go past McDonald's. Entrance to the VA is
on the right. Park in Lot A (no charge).
From the east to Albany
Take I-90 West to Route 787 South to the Madison
Avenue/Route 20 West exit. Take Madison Avenue
past the Empire State Plaza, past Lark Street. Turn
left onto New Scotland Avenue, go past two traffic
lights, and the entrance to the VA will be on the
left. Parking lot entrances will be on the right side
of the roadway. Park in Lot A (no charge).
From the west to Albany
Take Exit 24 from the NYS Thruway. After the toll
booth, follow signs to Route 20/Western Avenue
(first ramp on right) which will bring you onto the
Northway (Route 87) traveling south. Pass the
Crossgates exit. When road ends at traffic light,
take left turn onto Western Avenue (Route 20).
Continue on Western for several miles. After

lane. Western splits into Western on the left and
Madison on the right. Take the right fork onto
Madison and continue until you reach New

Public Transportation

Parking Information
Free parking is available. Parking lot shuttle runs Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Volunteers provide shuttle assistance continuously between patient parking and the front entrance of the Medical Center. Patients can call the volunteer driver from the Greeter Desk at (518) 368-3476.
