Your Stay in the Medical Center
If you have questions or concerns any time
during your stay at the Medical Center, please
ask a member of your health care treatment
team. Your health care treatment team consists of
your physician/provider, nurse, social worker,
dietitian, pharmacist and Patient Services Assistant
(PSA). Health care treatment teams also have
other health professional depending on the setting,
such as addiction therapists, vocational rehabilitation,
recreation therapists, and others. They can
help you find just the right person to address
your needs.
If you have a living will or health care proxy,
please tell the nurse. These documents will be
added to your medical record to indicate your
wishes.
Co-Payments
VA is required by law to charge certain veterans a
co-payment for outpatient and inpatient services
and for each 30 day or less supply of medications
provided on an outpatient basis.
For current information about co-payments, please
contact the Veterans Service Center, located in
basement of building 2, room 17.
Insurance
The VA is required by law to recover the cost of
providing medical treatment to veterans for nonservice
connected conditions from their individual
health insurance company. We will apply the payment
from your insurance company to your copayment
first, as we have done in the past. You will
be responsible for the remainder of the co-payment
the insurance company does not pay.
Medications
Do not bring medications from home.
Please tell staff about all medications you are
taking. All medications brought to the Medical
Center will be sent home with your family member.
Your provider will order medications to be used
during your hospital stay and upon your discharge.
Pain Management
We are committed to helping you get the best pain
relief possible. Only you can describe your pain.
Discuss your pain options with your physician.
