WRIISC-DC Outpatient Deployment Clinic

The WRIISC-DC has an outpatient deployment health clinic that meets three days a week on 3 B West at the Washington, DC VAMC. In this clinic, nurse practitioners, physicians, and occupational health scientists evaluate veterans who have post-deployment health concerns. Some of the services the clinic provides to combat veterans include: focused exposure assessments, combat health screenings, health risk communication, health education, and assistance with combat-related VA benefits and claims.

Additionally, the WRIISC-DC outpatient clinic has recently started to offer complementary and alternative medicine treatments to new combat veterans with combat related injuries or illnesses. Presently, we have an Acupuncture Clinic and Yoga Therapy for OIF/OEF combat veterans. To date, many of the OIF/OEF veterans who have participated in our complementary and alternative medicine therapies have expressed high levels of satisfaction and have reported improvements in their overall health status.

For more information on the WRIISC outpatient deployment health clinic, please contact Ms. Michelle Kennedy Prisco, MSN, ANP-C at (202) 745-8000 ext 6235 or WRIISC.DC@va.gov.
