VAAFI Credential Providers

VAAFI Credential Providers are government or non-government entities that supply login IDs and passwords or Public Key Infrastructure Certificate credentials to the end-users of the VA Authentication Federation Infrastructure (VAAFI).

Currently, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is working with only one provider: DoD.  This credential is a login ID and password allowing users to log into the VAAFI system to access VA applications such as My HealtheVet or eBenefits.

The Department of Defense offers the DoD Self-Service Access Center (DS Access), a credential provider which issues the DS Logon credential. You can get a DS Logon credential at the DS Access web site. Click the "Register for a DoD Self-Service Logon" link and follow the instructions.

Currently there are restrictions on which individuals are eligible for a DS Logon credential. More information on that topic can be found on the DS Logon information page and the list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

In the future more CSPs will be available for VAAFI users, so occasionally check back at this site for the latest news.
