C.B.
C.B. served in the Navy as a gunner’s mate. After separating from the military, she lived in Virginia for two years before returning to her hometown of Philadelphia. At the time of her participation in the Photovoice project, she was studying to become a pharmacy technician. A big challenge for C.B. is coping with her depression, which she describes as a rollercoaster of intense ups and downs.

![I was at the bus stop [when I took this]. I’ve never had a picture of City Hall, but I really just [wanted to take one] because it’s a landmark, and I was always homesick when I was away. Not even missing family necessarily, but just missing being in the city, and I guess the hustle and the bustle.](img/vets/vet_camilleb_cityhall.jpg)
![I’m in school right now for a pharmacy technician. I’m actually very interested in that kind of stuff… [it’s] something completely different from being in the military.](img/vets/vet_camilleb_pen.jpg)
![Being in the military, [I’d say] “I’m in the Navy,” and everybody’s like, “You know such and such, they’re in the Navy [too]?” And now, that conversation doesn’t exist anymore. So, I’m standing alone [now].](img/vets/vet_camilleb_standing_alone.jpg)
![I’ve been talking about using my [VA] home loan [to buy a house]. I found out about [it] from one of my friends while I was [still] in the military, but I don’t really know a lot about it. I haven’t heard a lot of people talk about it, and it’s not something I want to waste.](img/vets/vet_camilleb_door.jpg)
![[This] picture represents the view I have as soon as a I wake up in the morning. On the days when I’m down, I don’t actually look to the window. I might see it, but I don’t notice or acknowledge it like I do when I’m feeling better and [then] I’m like, “oh, it looks like it’s nice out today.”](img/vets/vet_camilleb_window.jpg)
