Tiffany J.
Tiffany served in the U.S. Air Force. She worked in a supply warehouse and fixed computers and software. When Tiffany was deployed, she experienced anxiety over leaving her teenage daughter, with whom she is very close. Fortunately, the camaraderie she developed with the other soldiers helped ease her sadness about being away from her family. Since returning, Tiffany struggles with large crowds. It has been a difficult transition to civilian life, but she is happy to be back with her daughter.

![This is one of the happier times after my deployment and separation from the military, [at a family reunion where] I got to meet nieces and nephews for the first time [and] see other family members I hadn’t seen in a while.](img/vets/vet_tiffanyj_reunion.jpg)
![My daughter is 8 in this picture. She was happy that I was home from my deployment and happy to see other family members. [It] shows a piece of her childhood that would be taken away from her the following year. All because I was having problems readjusting.](img/vets/vet_tiffanyj_lostpiece.jpg)

![I went to visit my daughter [about 5 months after] I sent her to stay with my parents because I couldn’t - I still was having problems readjusting. I was depressed majorly during this time… The VA’s answer to my depression was to put me on medication. But I was afraid that if I took the meds I wouldn’t be in [the] right frame of mind to take care of my daughter or myself.](img/vets/vet_tiffanyj_takingcare.jpg)
