Homeless Veterans Research Engagement Panel

Overview:

The National Center on Homelessness Among Veterans (the Center) created the Homeless Veteran Research Engagement Panel (HV-REP) to promote Veteran-centered research and provide input from Veterans with lived experiences with homelessness on Center-affiliated research projects.  Another purpose of the HV-REP is to collaborate with Center-affiliated researchers to improve research related to Veterans’ health, housing, and services by:

  • Providing feedback on new and ongoing research and evaluation of projects affiliated with the Center
  • Providing opinion and advice on the use of study results to benefit Veterans
  • Supporting the role of research related to Veteran homelessness at the VA and in the community

HV-REP Veterans provide guidance to researchers through collaboration in the following areas:

  • Research priorities and important research questions (e.g., project aims)
  • Research design (e.g., recruitment approach, feasibility and acceptability of intervention, selection of outcomes important to Veterans)
  • Research materials (e.g., recruitment materials, focus group guides, measures and survey items, other print materials)
  • Interpretation, translation, and dissemination of research findings

For Veterans who are interested in being on the panel, please complete the HV-REP Application (form).

HV-REP Veterans receive an honorarium of $30 per hour for their time. Honorariums will be provided after each meeting that members attend. Ongoing compensation will be contingent upon the availability of funding.  HV-REP meetings will occur virtually by conference calls and will not last more than two hours. Meetings will occur quarterly or possibly more often as needed.

If you have any additional questions, you may contact Jeffrey Gluff at Jeffrey.Gluff@va.gov.
