ANNOUNCEMENT: Permanent Housing Placement National Challenge to House 38,000 Veterans
On February 25, 2022, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough outlined new goals towards ending homelessness, which included a national goal of placing at least 38,000 Veterans experiencing homelessness into Permanent Housing during calendar year 2022. Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF), in coordination with other VA Homeless Programs, will play a critical role in achieving this goal by serving literally homeless Veterans enrolled in SSVF Rapid Rehousing.
As this will be a major focus of VA Homeless Programs during the remainder of this year, more guidance, technical assistance, and support will be forthcoming. In the meantime, we encourage you to connect with your VA Medical Center Homeless Program Leads to begin local planning efforts.
ANNOUNCEMENT: SSVF Program Office Data Entry, Quality, and Reconciliation Work
The SSVF Program Office in partnership with the National Homeless Program Office continue to strive to address Veteran homelessness. The SSVF Program Office is reviewing Grantee data and working to ensure that this data is entered in a timely manner and is as accurate as possible.
In March, the SSVF Program Office and our Technical Assistance provider, Abt and Associates began a review of repository upload information. As part of that review, Grantees who were identified as having TFA expenditures in the top 10% or bottom 2% of all uploads were flagged and emailed. Additionally, Grantees were notified of possible HMIS files where move-in dates could be missing in HMIS. These activities will continue in the coming months to ensure the highest level of data quality possible.
In alignment with the Secretary of the VA, Denis McDonough’s goal to house Veterans experiencing homelessness, we need to ensure we have accurate data to reflect the number of Veterans being served and housed with the SSVF Program. Should you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your SSVF Regional Coordinator.
REGISTER: June 6, 2022 - June 17, 2022: Upcoming 2022 Virtual Conference “Putting It All Together: Enhanced Partnerships to Serve those who Served!”
The SSVF Program Office, in partnership with the other VA Homeless Program offices and our federal partners, is pleased to announce registration for the upcoming 2022 Virtual VA Permanent Housing Conference – Putting it All Together: Enhanced Partnerships to Serve Those Who Serve!
The 2022 conference will feature twelve virtual sessions taking place over two weeks during the weeks of June 6th and June 13th. Sessions will be 90 minutes long and will cover a variety of topics relevant to SSVF, VA’s Homeless Programs and the broader Federal goal of ending homelessness among Veterans. All sessions will be held on the Zoom platform. More detailed descriptions and learning objectives for individual sessions will be released soon.
Please use the Zoom registration links below to register for each individual session you plan to attend. SSVF Grantees are strongly encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible. The primary audience for this conference is Program Managers and Directors; however, all SSVF Grantee staff are encouraged to attend regardless of job title or role.
We plan to offer Continuing Education Units for these sessions. Please indicate in the registration form(s) whether you need or are interested in receiving CEUs for your participation. Those registrants who do want CEUs will be provided separate instructions via email on how to set up and confirm an account in VA’s learning management system. You will need to follow the instructions in that separate email in order to receive CEUs for your attendance.
Please direct any questions regarding registration to: SSVF@tacinc.org. We look forward to "seeing" you in June!
