ATTENTION:
SSVF Allocated Additional $114 Million in CARES Act Funding
SSVF will be providing an additional
$114 million in CARES Act funding for Grantees in high need areas. This funding
will be used to support SSVF’s central mission of placing Veteran families into
permanent housing through Rapid Re-Housing and through collaboration with
HUD-VASH. With greater capacity in GPD and HCHV Contract Residential Services,
along with greater accessibility to COVID-19 vaccines, SSVF can begin to
transition away from its emphasis on emergency housing, though elevated levels
of hotel/motel utilization is still anticipated for a number of months and will
require additional funding assistance in high need communities. All Shallow
Subsidy Grantees will also be provided additional funding to support the
flexibilities made available through the Stafford Act.
Not all Grantees will be receiving
additional funding. Grantees in high need areas receiving additional funds will
be notified by the Program Office via email on the amount of funding available
and more information on accepting funding and submitting budgets.
ANNOUNCEMENT: New Additions to the Learning Management Site (LMS) -
Housing Skills Practice Center (HSPC)
HSPC
now offers self-paced and interactive education on New Staff and Health Care
Navigator Training modules along with updated Rapid Rehousing Direct Service
training. The SSVF Program Office strongly encourages all Program
Managers and staff to become familiar with the LMS system, as there will be
continued expansion of educational opportunities for SSVF Grantee Staff at all
levels. Each Grantee has been assigned a Grantee Learning Manager (GLM).
If there are Grantee staff who are interested in accessing the HSPC, they
should first ask internally about who their GLM is, and that person should be
able to create an account for them if they have space available.
Questions about the LMS system should be directed to: housingpractice@tacinc.org and include their
grant number. Grantees may access the LMS Website using the following

Health Care Navigators (HCNs) play a critical role in breaking down barriers to
Veteran health care needs and ensuring equitable, efficient access to VA and
non-VA health care resources. The SSVF Program Office has been providing
ongoing support and training for newly hired Health Care Navigators since
November 2020. This Office Hours is open to all SSVF staff, with a particular
focus on HCN Supervisors and Managers. We will review the general guidance
provided to HCNs to date, the training and technical assistance that have been
put in place, as well as strategies and considerations for effective
supervision and support for HCNs from SSVF managers and supervisors. After
registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about
joining the webinar.

SURVEY: Tell us what you think about
the SSVF Website
The SSVF
Website and University has been the central location for guidance, training
materials and information related to the SSVF Program Office since 2011. SSVF
is now exploring options to rework its website. We are reaching out to SSVF
Grantees to learn more about how they use the site, what they like and do not
like about the site, and how we can improve the sites ability to deliver
useful, timely guidance moving forward. Our goal is to ensure the SSVF
website is a relevant destination to SSVF Grantees and other stakeholders.
