REMINDER: National
Center for Homelessness Among Veterans Survey – Voluntary Representative Payee
The National
Center for Homelessness among Veterans is working to develop a demonstration
project to help veterans access voluntary budgeting and payee services. This
would be different from the VA’s fiduciary program and would involve non-VA
agencies providing representative payee (rep payee) services to veterans on a
voluntary basis (not a conservatorship). We would like to learn how many
agencies currently provide services or would be equipped to provide such
services as we explore the opportunity to work with sites around the
country. Please take a few moments to complete this quick survey as we
work with the National Center on this intriguing project.
The survey can
be found at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/reppayee
and will close on August 2, 2021.
RESOURCES: Emergency
Rental Assistance Programs (ERAP) Links
The Treasury
Department now maintains a list of Emergency Rental Assistance Programs (ERAP)
assistance by state. These programs can provide the financial assistance
necessary to prevent evictions. This broader mandate, preventing evictions
rather than SSVF’s more focused mandate to prevent homelessness, may mean that
ERAP is a resource for some Veterans who would not be eligible for SSVF
prevention services. Find providers at: Find
rental assistance | U.S. Department of the Treasury
The National
Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) has published a tool to help
individuals and providers locate information about the Federal opening of 2021
Emergency Rental Assistance Programs (ERAP) with federal funds through the U.S.
Department of the Treasury as authorized by the Consolidate Appropriates Act of
2021. The NCSHA site indicates various resources as they relate to
housing resources for renters and homeowners. Of the resources provided,
there is a map which allows the user to click on a state and find information
available about Emergency Rental Assistance Programs known to NCSHA. For
more information, follow the link: Emergency
Housing Assistance — NCSHA
REMINDER:
Fraud, Waste and Abuse Compliance
It is
incumbent on an SSVF awarded organization to report all instances of potential
or actual fraud as soon as your organization is made aware of the issue.
Notifying your Regional Coordinator and the Program Office is an essential part
of keeping in compliance with the executed Memorandum of Award (MOA) as
outlined in Sections 2, 4, 7, 8, 15 and 20. Please ensure all SSVF staff have
reviewed the Fraud, Waste and Abuse webinar which can be found at this link: https://www.va.gov/HOMELESS/ssvf/docs/SSVF_Fraud_Awareness_Training.pdf
