Research Interests
Throughout my graduate and postdoctoral training, I have received extensive experience in behavioral pharmacology, obesity, and addiction. My research experience investigating the relationship between ingestive and addictive behaviors has evolved from a focus on the similarities between ingestive behaviors and drug addiction, to a more specific interest in underlying neural mechanisms and novel pharmacotherapies for obesity and addiction. I have an advanced knowledge of animal models of drug addiction and food motivation. My current interest is on examining the effects of minor tobacco alkaloids on food intake, physical activity, and energy expenditure, and their ability to modulate the release of feeding neuropeptides.
