VA CoEPCE/EdPACT participates in UCSF Partners Primary Care Summit

Ed PactThe University of California San Francisco held a Primary Care Summit in September, bringing together champions from patient care, education and research from UCSF Campus and Medical Center, San Francisco General Hospital and the San Francisco VA Medical Center.

Kevin Grumbach, MD, Chair and Professor in UCSF Department of Family and Community Medicine and Catherine Lucey, MD, Vice Dean for Education in UCSF School of Medicine, framed the meeting around cross-system learning and the need to tailor curriculum to support the transformation of “physician centered practice to patient focused teams”. The general mission of the summit was to facilitate shared understanding of how each system is redesigning models of primary care and to find out how UCSF can be best positioned within these transformational models to support the development of students and trainees who will eventually practice in a patient centered system.

The summit featured the following VA speakers and topics:

View of Systems Leaders on Organizational Readiness and Capacity for Primary Care Transformation (Panel Discussion): Diana Nicoll, MD, PhD, MPA, Chief of Staff, VAMC‐SF & Associate Dean, UCSF SOM
Status of Primary Care by Site: Carolyn Wong, RN, BS – Nurse Manager, Medical Practice, Women’s and ID Clinics, SF VA
