2020 Women’s Equality Day
August, 2020, marks the 100th Anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution. The 19th Amendment prohibits the states and the federal government from denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States on the basis of sex, thus, granting women the right to vote!
Women's Equality Day is celebrated in the United States on August 26 to commemorate the 1920 adoption of the 19th Amendment and honors the hard-fought victory of the women's suffrage movement.
Please join the Widening Opportunities for Women (W.O.W.) Chapter of Federally Employed Women (FEW) and HUD’s Federal Women’s Program (ODEEO) in commemorating Women’s Equality Day by taking the opportunity to participate in the various virtual events dedicated to this historical observance (see links below).
