Low Back Pain

US Navy Officer Linda

What would you recommend?

Linda is a 42-year-old Navy officer who has suffered from chronic low back pain since a motor vehicle accident 10 years ago. Linda’s low back pain has waxed and waned over the years, but it has been progressively worsening in the past year. She has tried various treatments for her pain such as physical therapy, steroid injections, and medications–including muscle relaxants and opioids. She is currently forced to limit herself to part-time work due to the ongoing pain and is struggling to make ends meet financially as a single parent of two children. Linda identifies herself as the caretaker of others and rarely makes time for herself.

What would you tell Linda and how would you implement a Whole Health approach to care?

Our Low Back Pain overview provides additional information about Linda and incorporates the latest research on anti-inflammatory diet, supplements, yoga, pilates, spinal manipulation, and other complementary approaches to prevent and treat the pain. We also offer Whole Health tools on specific topics related to low back pain below.
