Mr. Francisco Hurtado, RN, MHA, MBA, NA-BC; was appointed as the Associate Director for Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive at the Alaska VA Healthcare System in April 2017.
Prior to working for the Alaska VA Healthcare System, Mr. Hurtado held several critical positions including Chief Nurse of Primary Care Services, Chief Nurse Acute Care, Chief Nurse Inpatient Mental Health and Emergency Department, Chief Nurse Mental Health and DOD Joint Venture, Acting Chief of Quality Management at the VA Northern California Health Care System (VA NCHCS).
He has over 16 consecutive years with the Department of Veteran Affairs and over 22 years total of progressive leadership experience working in various organizational environments.
Mr. Hurtado has over 23 years of military experience with two active overseas tours; Germany 2004-2005 as an Operating Room Nurse, and Iraq 2008-2009 as Chief Nurse Detainee Operations Iraq. Currently he continues to serve as Field Grade Officer, Lieutenant Colonel in the United Stated Army Reserve. His current assignment since June 2015 to the present is serving as Detailed Inspector General for the 807th MCDS.
