PRESS RELEASE
December 4, 2022
Altoona , PA — The James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, the Blair County War Veterans Council and other local dignitaries will honor Marine Veteran Lloyd Peck for his service to Veterans as Commander of the Blair County War Veterans Council.
Peck will receive a certificate of appreciation plaque recognizing his commitment to providing education, services, and funds for local Veterans. The award also acknowledges his dedication to organizing Veteran recognition events and projects including: Memorial Day & Veterans Day Parades and Beautifying Local Veterans Monuments -- all while ensuring no Blair County Veteran is left behind or forgotten.
“Lloyd Peck is one of the most impactful Veterans Blair County has ever seen,” said Interim Medical Center Director Kenneth Mortimer, “He has set the local standard – and a high standard at that – for how Veterans are to take care of their fellow servicemen and women: keeping them informed of services, connected to community outreach programs, and ensuring they get the care they deserve. Lloyd has been a great friend to this Medical Center, Local Veterans Organizations, and our Heroes. It’s an honor to be a part of recognizing his service to those who served.”
Peck will turn 91 years old on the day of this ceremony, which is also Pearl Harbor Day. He served on Active Duty in the U.S. Marines from 1948 to 1959, serving on the front lines during the Korean War.
