The Amarillo VA Health Care System (AVAHCS) hosted a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Domiciliary on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center Building 35.

The Domiciliary-Substance Use Disorder (DOM-SUD) is a residential rehabilitation treatment program that offers structured, intensive treatment for Substance Use Disorders with a focus on group therapy and group psychoeducation.

“It is a privilege to be able to bring this program here to the Amarillo VA and offer this treatment for our Veterans,” said Dr. Jessica Stolar, Chief of Behavioral Health. "We are not just opening a new service—we are opening the door to better health for the Veterans that we serve."

This program is significant to Veterans in the Texas Panhandle that may need this necessary treatment without being sent to another facility far from their home.
