The Lubbock VA Clinic hosted its 4th Annual Welcome Home Veterans event on April 25, 2026, at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, welcoming over 700 Veterans and their families for a day of appreciation, connection and community.

The free event was open to all Veterans, regardless of enrollment in VA health care, and featured complimentary food provided by United Supermarkets, along with door prizes and opportunities for Veterans and their families to connect with local resources and VA services.

“It's always an honor to host this event to ‘welcome home’ our hometown heroes and thank them for their service,” said Dr. Rodney S. Gonzalez, Director of the Amarillo VA Health Care System (AVAHCS).

The annual Welcome Home Veterans event aims to recognize the sacrifices of Veterans while strengthening relationships between VA and the community it serves.

“This year is especially meaningful as the Lubbock VA Clinic celebrates its fifth anniversary in the new facility on June 1,” said Laura Maul, Assistant Director of AVAHCS. “We’re also marking 250 years of America on July 4, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with our Veterans.”

Veterans that want to get involved with VA health care and benefits can call to learn more.
