Toledo Vet Center Expands Services with New Community Access Point

By Chris Arbino, Communications Chief (Acting)
The Toledo Vet Center is expanding its reach with a new Community Access Point (CAP) site at the DAV office, located at 141 E. Albert Street in Adrian, Michigan, offering Veterans, service members, and their families easier access to confidential counseling and readjustment services close to home.
Vet Centers are community-based counseling centers within the Veterans Health Administration that provide a wide range of services to help Veterans and service members successfully transition from military to civilian life.
Established in 1979 by Vietnam Veterans following the Vietnam War, Vet Centers were created to meet the unique needs of combat Veterans returning home. Today, their mission has grown to serve Veterans of all eras, including those who have experienced combat, military sexual trauma (MST), or grief after the loss of a loved one who served.
Services include:
- Individual and group counseling
- Family and couples therapy
- Bereavement support
- Referrals for addiction and substance use care
- Suicide prevention resources
- Veteran peer connections
All services are confidential and provided at no cost.
The newest CAP site brings these services directly into the community, making it easier for Veterans and their families to connect with care—without needing to travel to a main Vet Center location. CAP sites are designed to reduce barriers to care by offering support in a local, familiar setting.
“Vet Centers are about meeting Veterans where they are—both emotionally and geographically.”
This new site is another way VA is ensuring that no Veteran feels alone or without support.
