On October 7, 2024, Mr. Fred Brevard assumed the role of Acting Assistant Medical Center Director at the Atlanta VA Medical Center.
On October 7, 2024, Mr. Fred Brevard was selected as the Acting Assistant Medical Center Director. In this role, Mr. Brevard will oversee Police Services, Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS), Environmental Management Service (EMS), Emergency Management, Veteran Canteen Service (VCS), and the Office of Information and Technology (OI&T).
Before this acting selection, Mr. Brevard served as the Supervisory Health System Specialist to the Executive Director (SES) since January 2024. Mr. Brevard was formally the Supervisory Health System Specialist to the Deputy Medical Center Director (SES) at the Washington DC Veteran Affairs Medical Center, a complexity level 1-b facility within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) system. In this role, he was the senior advisor to the Deputy Medical Center Director, handling multiple large-scale projects and assisting with oversight of the day-to-day operations.
Mr. Brevard led the team in developing the medical center's comprehensive recruitment and retention efforts, incorporating all HRO principles and practices. These efforts included strategic onboarding planning and execution, budgeting and fiscal management, culture development and refinement, and administrative efficiency.
Before this appointment, Mr. Brevard joined the Washington DC Medical Center in 2017 as the Substance Abuse Recovery Program (SARP) Manager and then the Vocational Rehabilitation Program Manager within the Mental Health Service Line. Mr. Brevard has also worked in various clinical and leadership roles within the Department of Defense and local .
Mr. Brevard holds a master's degree in clinical psychology and is pursuing his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (ABD). Mr. Brevard holds clinical licenses in Mental Health and Substance Abuse counseling. He is also a member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society (Pi Upsilon), the American College for Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the National Society of Leadership and Success, The Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement (SCLA), and the National Capital Healthcare Executive (NCHE). In 2023, Mr. Brevard was selected as a Psych Congress Elevate Scholar and College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Career Accelerator Program (CAP) Scholar.
