Dr. Gerald Ubaka presently holds the position of Interim Associate Director for Patient Care Services.

Dr. Gerald Ubaka currently serves as the Interim Associate Director for Patient Care Services at the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Health Care System, where he provides strategic and operational leadership for nursing services across the facility. Committed to patient-centered care and nursing excellence, Dr. Ubaka brings extensive clinical and administrative experience from various healthcare settings across the United States.

He began his nursing career in Salisbury, North Carolina, and has since held progressive roles in both the private sector and VA medical centers. His previous positions include Critical Care Charge Nurse, Emergency Department Nurse Manager, Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT) RN Care Manager, Chief Nurse for Ambulatory Care, Associate Nurse Executive for Primary and Specialty Care Clinics, Deputy Nurse Executive, and Interim Associate Director for Patient Care Services.

In addition to his healthcare leadership roles, Dr. Ubaka serves as a Major in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, where he is a Flight Nurse and Officer in Charge of Patient Safety with the 315th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. In this capacity, he oversees patient safety processes that facilitate efficient patient transfers across levels of care in both domestic and international operations.

Dr. Ubaka earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and holds multiple board certifications, including Nurse Executive (NE-BC), Nurse Professional Development (NPD-BC), and Ambulatory Care Nursing (AMB-BC). He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and is a graduate of the VA Health Care Leadership Development Program (HCLDP).
