Atlanta VA Health Care System celebrates National Engineers Week
On Feb 16 -22, the Atlanta VA Health Care System will celebrate National Engineers Week, which recognizes the vital role of engineers in health care.
The weeklong celebration aims to promote, educate, and showcase the contributions of the unsung heroes who work hard behind the scenes to keep Atlanta VAHCS’s 22 sites of care running smoothly.
Our engineering staff oversees the operation and maintenance of the campus, originally built in 1966. Since then, generations of dedicated engineers have cared for all our buildings and infrastructure, adapting, and upgrading systems to continue serving Veterans.
“National Engineers Week is a great time to celebrate how engineers help to keep the healthcare-built environment safe and sustainable for our nations heroes and our dedicated staff,” said Damian Mindley, Atlanta VAHCS Chief, Engineering Services.
Mindley noted some of the ongoing construction projects which are focused on increasing efficiencies and improving productivity:
• Reconditioning and repairs of the Pedestrian Bridge
• Upgrading the security infrastructure for the facility
• Upgrading the IT infrastructure throughout the facility
“These projects will help our organization care for current and future generations of Veterans,” Mindley said.
We thank our engineering staff for all they do for our Veterans every day.
