By Gregory Kendall, Public Affairs Specialist
The Atlanta VA Health Care System proudly recognizes its cardiovascular professionals during Cardiovascular Professionals Week, February 7 –15, 2026.
This national observance honors the dedicated cardiovascular practitioners, technologists, and managers whose expertise and teamwork play a vital role in delivering high-quality heart care to Veterans.
Atlanta VAHCS’ multidisciplinary cardiovascular team includes nurses, board-certified cardiovascular specialists and subspecialists, cardiovascular and medical instrument technicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, fellows, residents, and students. These highly trained professionals provide both non-invasive and invasive cardiovascular services, including electrocardiography, exercise testing, echocardiography, right and left heart catheterizations, percutaneous coronary angioplasty and stenting, structural heart interventions, pacemaker, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantations, as well as electrophysiology studies and ablations.
“Cardiovascular professionals work together as a team to deliver exceptional patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings to help heal the hearts of our Veterans,” said Dr. Maziar Zafari, Chief of Cardiology at Atlanta VAHCS.
Army Veteran Kevin Williams shared appreciation for the team’s impact. “From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in good hands,” Williams said. “The cardiology team took the time to explain everything, listened to my concerns, and treated me like family. Because of them, I’m still here and able to enjoy life with the people I love.”
Atlanta VAHCS extends its sincere appreciation to all cardiovascular professionals for their unwavering dedication, clinical excellence, and commitment to improving the lives of Veterans every day.
