Atlanta VAHCS Celebrates Public Service Recognition Week
The Atlanta VA Health Care System is honoring its over 5,000 employees for their service and commitment as part of Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW), May 4- 10.
Celebrated since 1985, PSRW acknowledges the invaluable contributions of government workers at the local, state, county, and federal levels.
"I believe we owe a debt of gratitude to the Atlanta VA employees who work tirelessly to keep our health care system running smoothly and provide essential services to me and my fellow Veterans," said retired Army Master Sergeant Terry Jones. “The VA’s commitment to public service is truly admirable and deserving of appreciation during Public Service Recognition Week and beyond."
Jones added that he appreciates the way VA take care of Veterans, emphasizing the importance of respect, empathy, and patient-centered care. "As we observe Public Service Recognition Week, I would like to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the dedicated VA employees,” said Jones. “Their unwavering commitment to serving Veterans is truly commendable.”
Ketia Wilcox, co-chairwoman of the Atlanta VAHCS Employee Engagement Committee, believes VA employees have the most inspiring mission in the federal government—the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Veterans, serving and honoring them. ”VA’s core values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect and Excellence (I CARE) describe our culture and serve as the foundation for the way we are committed to interacting with Veterans and their supporters, fellow employees, and those outside the organization,” said Wilcox.
