As the nation observes Women’s Health Care Month, the Atlanta VA Health Care System is highlighting its continued commitment to providing comprehensive, personalized care to women Veterans across Georgia.
Women Veterans are one of the fastest-growing populations within the VA, and Atlanta VAHCS remains a national leader in women’s health services. From primary care and mental health services to maternity coordination, gynecology, and wellness programs, the Atlanta VAHCS Women Veterans Program is focused on ensuring women Veterans receive the high-quality care they have earned through their military service.
According to Atlanta VAHCS Women Veterans Program Manager Kathleen O’Loughlin, Women’s Health Care Month serves as an opportunity to recognize both the unique health care needs and the growing presence of women Veterans within the VA system.
“Women Veterans deserve health care that is comprehensive, compassionate, and tailored to their specific needs,” said O’Loughlin. “At the Atlanta VA, we are committed to creating an environment where women Veterans feel welcomed, respected, and empowered in their health care journey.”
Atlanta VAHCS serves thousands of women Veterans each year through a coordinated interdisciplinary approach that emphasizes preventive care, whole health, and patient-centered services.
Army Veteran Linda Jones said the care she receives at the Atlanta VAHCS has positively impacted her life.
“The women’s health team really listens to me and makes me feel comfortable,” Jones said. “From routine appointments to specialty care, I know I’m being treated with dignity and respect.”
Navy Veteran Denise Robinson said she appreciates the supportive atmosphere and resources available to women Veterans.
“The Atlanta VA has helped me take better control of my health,” Robinson said. “The staff understands the experiences women Veterans face, and that makes a real difference.”
Throughout Women’s Health Care Month, the Atlanta VAHCS is encouraging women Veterans to stay engaged in their health care by scheduling preventive screenings, annual wellness visits, and other important services designed to support long-term health and well-being.
The Atlanta VAHCS Women Veterans Program continues to expand outreach efforts and enhance services to ensure women Veterans receive equitable access to high-quality care in a safe and welcoming environment.
