An Atlanta Marine Combat Veteran oftentimes reflects on how the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, established on August 29, 1916, has flourished into a force of steadfast warriors, ready to defend and uphold the principles upon which our great nation was founded.

The Veteran noted how throughout its storied history, the Marine Corps Reserve has been a crucial component of our national defense strategy. “From its significant role in World War I and World II to its invaluable contributions in conflicts such as the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War, and more recent combat operations, the Reserve has consistently demonstrated its ability to rise to the occasion and answer the call of duty,” he said.

The 85-year-old retired Gunnery Sergeant firmly believes that at the heart of the Marine Corps Reserve lies an unbreakable bond forged through shared experiences and every Marine who wears the uniform represents the embodiment of honor, valor, and selfless service. “For me, one of the most remarkable aspects of the Marine Corps Reserve is its diverse and inclusive community,” he said. “These brave men and women from all walks of life, representing a myriad of backgrounds, seamlessly transition into the ranks of the Reserve, dedicating their time and effort to rigorous training, drills to defend our great nation.”
