Caregiver Support Resource Fair
The Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VAMC celebrated National Family Caregivers Month (NFCM) today by hosting a Caregiver Support Resource Fair in part to recognize November as National Caregivers Support Month. VA honors and celebrates the invaluable contributions of caregivers across the country.
“Caregiving often calls us to lean into love we didn’t know possible. It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s how you carry it”, said Angela Williams, LCSW, Program of General Caregiver Support Services Coordinator.
We are here to celebrate our caregivers and look forward to your support, not only in November, but throughout the entire year.
The theme for this year is “Caregiving: Refresh & Renew”. It aligns with the Caregiver Support Program’s mission to empower caregivers with the resources needed to help support their physical, emotional, and mental well-being and ensure they stay strong for the Veterans in their care. Caregiver Support Program is committed to providing trainings, resources, services, and tools to enhance the caregiving experience.
“I’m here to learn more about how to care for my husband and get help to take care of myself”, said Ms. Laneva Wynveen, of Loganville, GA.
Presentations providing awareness on caregiving issues, and other important topics to educate communities, and increase support for caregivers were presented at the Resource Fair.
“My husband is a Veteran with dementia, and I’m interested in getting resources and information to assist him as well. I’m wanting to learn more about the program than I already know”, said Mary Hall, of Cumming, GA.
We salute our VA caregivers for their tenacity and dedication in caring for our nation’s heroes. Wishing all a joyful and rejuvenating National Family Caregivers Month.
