Celebrating National Family Caregivers Month at the Atlanta VA Health Care System

By Gregory Kendall, Public Affairs Specialist

The Atlanta VA Health Care System hosted a heartfelt and uplifting event honoring the vital role caregivers play in supporting the health and well-being of Veterans on November 5.

The facility’s 5th annual celebration of National Family Caregivers Month brought together caregivers, Veterans, and staff for a day filled with appreciation, learning, and connection.

The event highlighted the tireless dedication of caregivers—spouses, family members, and friends—who provide daily support to Veterans across the region. Attendees enjoyed an inspiring presentation on how the Atlanta VAHCS Caregiver Support Program offers an array of services throughout the year to aid caregivers.

After thepresentation, guests visited the Caregiver Support Resource Fair, where they connected with representatives from community organizations and VA programs offering mental health support, respite care, financial guidance, and other valuable tools to help caregivers thrive.

“This event was about shining a light on the compassion and strength of those who care for our Veterans,” said Angela Williams, Atlanta VAHCS Caregiver Support Program Coordinator. “Caregivers give so much of themselves, and it’s our responsibility to ensure they feel seen, supported, and equipped with the resources they need.”

Events like this reaffirm the Atlanta VA Health Care System’s commitment to honoring caregivers as essential partners in Veteran health care—and ensuring they always have the support they deserve.
