On April 16, the Rosel Fann Recreation Center became a hub of hope and opportunity as Veterans from across Atlanta gathered for the HUD/VASH and Community Resource Job Fair.

The event, organized in partnership with the Atlanta VA Health Care System Homeless Program, drew dozens of veterans seeking employment, housing assistance, and support for a fresh start.

From job placement assistance and resume support to housing resources and healthcare enrollment, the fair served as a one-stop hub connecting Veterans with the tools they need to build stability and independence. Representatives from local employers, nonprofit organizations, and VA programs were on hand to provide guidance and immediate access to services.

Army Veteran Bryant Bigham described the event as a turning point. “I’ve been trying to figure out my next step for a while now. Today, I not only met employers but also learned about housing programs I didn’t even know existed. It gave me hope.”

Navy Veteran Katrina McCurry emphasized the importance of having multiple resources in one place. “Usually, you have to go to different offices and make a lot of calls. Here, everything was under one roof. I walked away with real leads and real support.”

For Marine Corps Veteran Durjon Cherisma, the connections made at the fair were invaluable. “It’s not just about jobs—it’s about feeling supported. Talking to people who understand what Veterans go through made a big difference for me.”

According to Dawn Kentish-Bennett, chief of the Atlanta VAHCS Homeless Program, events like this highlight the power of collaboration. “Bringing together community partners, employers, and VA programs allows us to meet Veterans where they are and address multiple needs at once,” she said. “Outreach like this is critical to ensuring that no Veteran falls through the cracks and that everyone has access to the resources they’ve earned.”

The HUD-VASH and Community Resource Job Fair reflects an ongoing commitment by the Atlanta VA and its partners to support Veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness, while empowering them with the opportunities and resources needed to thrive.
