The Atlanta VA Healthcare System is recognizing National Nutrition Month
Trying new food options could lead to better health
by Gregory Kendall,
The Atlanta VA Healthcare System is recognizing National Nutrition Month in March by promoting the importance of making informed food choices while developing healthy eating habits.
Yumma Jones and Audrey Grant, both Atlanta VAHCS Registered Clinical Dietetic Technician, explain why this is the ideal time to focus on a healthy diet.
“Eating healthier is one of the most powerful ways to prevent disease,” they noted at their Nutrition Month display on March 15. “It can help keep us healthy and active as we get older, giving us more time to spend with our families and do the things we love to do.”
Army Veteran Louis Davis agrees. “Enjoying healthy foods sets the stage for a lifetime of good nutrition for me and my family,” Davis said. “At home, we try to eat a variety of healthy meals, with the emphasis on trying new things.
Every year in March, Atlanta VAHCS encourages Veterans and employees to reassess their eating habits and widen their taste experiences to eat in a healthier fashion.
