Trinka Davis Veterans Village Hosts Life-Saving Blood Drive

By Gregory Kendall, Public Affairs Specialist
The Trinka Davis Veterans Village partnered with LifeSouth Blood Services to host a blood drive on February 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., bringing Veterans, staff, and community members together in support of a life-saving mission.
The event provided a powerful opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of Veterans and their families. Each donation helps save lives and ensures a reliable blood supply for those who have served our country and continue to need care.
“For me, giving blood is another way to keep serving,” said Air Force Veteran Clayton Hays. “You may not see the person you’re helping, but you know your donation could mean everything to another Veteran or their family.”
Staff at Trinka Davis Veterans Village emphasized the importance of hosting events that allow Veterans to give back while strengthening community connections.
“Our goal is to create opportunities where Veterans feel empowered and supported,” said, Iakesha Releford, Trinka Davis Veterans Village nurse manager. “This blood drive showed how much our Veterans and partners care about one another and about saving lives.”
LifeSouth Blood Services highlighted the impact of the partnership and the generosity of donors.
“Blood donations are always needed, and events like this are critical to maintaining a safe and steady supply,” said Robyn English, a LifeSouth Blood Services representative. “We are grateful to Trinka Davis Veterans Village and the Atlanta VA community for stepping up and making such a meaningful impact.”
Building on the success of this event, the Atlanta VA Health Care System’s Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE) is scheduling multiple blood drives in the coming months. Veterans, employees, and community partners are encouraged to participate and help support this critical need.
