Dr. Bryan L. Watson joined VA Augusta as its Interim Chief of Staff in June 2026.
Previously, he served as the Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatrics, Extended Care, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tennessee. Throughout his VA career, Dr. Watson has served in multiple clinical and leadership positions, including ACOS for Primary Care and Community Medicine, Medical Director for Home‑Based Primary Care, and ACOS for GEC/PMRS. Prior to his federal service, he practiced as a staff internist with Wellmont Medical Associates and served as a Local Medical Examiner for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Dr. Watson earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University, graduating Summa Cum Laude and receiving the W.A. Howard Award.
A Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, Dr. Watson is a graduate of the Healthcare Leadership Development Program (HCLDP) and the Primary Care Leadership Development Program (PCLDP). He is also an experienced educator, having served as clinical faculty for Lincoln Memorial University and Norton Community Hospital, where he trained medical students and residents in Internal Medicine and Rural Medicine.
