Bay Pines VA Hosts Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

BAY PINES , FL — Today, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System hosted their annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center Campus. The ceremony took place in the Veterans Courtyard and, in keeping with the traditions of Veterans Day, began promptly at 11 a.m.
“Veterans Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to say ‘thank you’ to Veterans for the freedoms they’ve guaranteed for us,” said Bay Pines VA Director/CEO Paul M. Russo. “Within each man and woman who has worn our nation’s cloth, exists a legacy of service that extends beyond them, to their loved ones and communities. We are grateful to come together to celebrate America’s heroes while reinforcing our commitment to serve them with the dignity and care they deserve.”
During the event, Bay Pines VA Director/CEO Paul M. Russo, St. Petersburg Regional Office (VBA) Director Julianna Boor, Florida National Cemetery Deputy Director John G. Knapp and Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13) delivered remarks. The keynote speaker was the U.S. Central Command Chief of Staff Brig. Gen. Brandon Tegtmeier.
“It is a great honor to share this day with all of our Veterans and, as important, all of the volunteers, employees, and care providers here at Bay Pines VA,” said Tegtmeier. “On behalf of all our currently serving Armed Forces members, thank you for your service.”
Musical performances were provided by the Keswick Christian School. At the conclusion of the ceremony, staff from more than 20 of Bay Pines VA’s various services offered assistance and education about the various resources Bay Pines VA provides to Veterans and their loved ones.
