Women Veteran Services Receive Large Donation From Community Partners

PRESS RELEASE

November 6, 2023

BAY PINES , FL — Bay Pines VA Healthcare System leaders accepted a donation for women Veterans during an official presentation at C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center, Nov. 3.

The donation of more than $14,000 was presented by Dana Fox, co-president, Ladies Executive Golf Society (LEGS) Tampa Bay, and Tim Price, owner of iTrip-Palm Harbor. Last month, LEGS hosted the organization’s inaugural Irons for Impact Classic, sponsored by Price’s organization.

“I can only imagine the struggles female Veterans have once they return to civilian life, and we wanted to help make them feel just as welcome,” said Fox. “This is why we felt so strongly about having our Irons for Impact Classic benefit the female Veteran programs at Bay Pines VA Healthcare System.”

The duo was met by Bay Pines VA Healthcare System Director/CEO Paul M. Russo, Deputy Director Kristine Brown, Social Work Chief Alisha Stanton, and Women Veteran Program Manager Donna Sherman.

“Today is another example of the kindness and generosity from throughout our communities who consistently find ways to pay it forward in support of Veterans,” added Russo. “We’re honored to accept this gift from these two community leaders and look forward to utilizing their contributions to directly supporting women Veterans.”

Price, who previously worked for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, has first-hand knowledge of the immediate impact donations like his and Fox’s can make in the health care journey for Veterans.

Throughout the past year, Bay Pines VA has joined other healthcare systems across the county in celebration of 100 years of healthcare to women Veterans.

“This donation reflects our recognition of women Veterans’ invaluable service and the sacrifices they've made,” said Price. “I'm 100 percent confident that Bay Pines VA Healthcare System will earmark these funds to be used to assist female Veterans with homelessness, childcare, and whatever needs they deem are appropriate in helping this special group of Women!”
