Dr. Pimentel is a health services researcher and implementation scientist at the Center for Health Optimization and Implementation Research (CHOIR) and the
New England Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center (GRECC). Additionally, she is Research Assistant Professor of Public Health at the University of Massachusetts - Lowell. She uses rigorous, mixed methods in studies of access to specialty care services and medication use among older adults; pain management; and quality improvement and person-centered care in diverse VA settings.
Dr. Pimentel currently serves as the co-principal investigator of a hybrid implementation/effectiveness study of a frontline staff huddling practice to reduce the frequency and severity of falls among Veteran nursing home residents of State Veterans Homes. She is also the corresponding principal investigator of the Geriatrics and Extended care-focused Network to Enhance Research Across the Enterprise (GENERATE), a VA Office of Research and Development Consortium of Research focused on aging, long-term care, and caregiving.
