Congratulations to Dr. Barbara Bokhour - Recipient of the 2024 Health System Impact Award

We are proud to announce that Dr. Barbara Bokhour, PhD, Co-Director of the Center for Health Optimization and Implementation Research (CHOIR) and leader of the Center for Evaluating Patient-Centered Care (EPCC), has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Health System Impact Award.
This recognition celebrates Dr. Bokhour’s pivotal research and evaluations on Whole Health interventions for priority VA conditions such as chronic pain, PTSD, and opioid use in Veterans. Her work has significantly influenced the VA's transformation toward a more patient-centered healthcare system.
Dr. Bokhour founded EPCC over a decade ago, and her collaborative efforts with VA's Office of Patient-Centered Care and Cultural Transformation have impacted national VA policy and funding. Her research contributions have been recognized in Congressional reports and have advanced the metrics for Whole Health outcomes and the value of complementary and integrative health services.
Dr. Bokhour's dedication extends beyond the VA, with her work being cited in prominent reports from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, recommending the expansion of VA’s Whole Health system to broader healthcare settings.
