'Hearoes Tour' brings Hearing Health to Birmingham VA

Veterans participating in hearing screenings

The LexCare Hearing Foundation’s Hearoes Tour, a national hearing health initiative hosting over 200 stops each year, made its way to the Birmingham VA Health Care System and several VA clinics this December.

With an ambitious mission to reach “One Million Ears,” the Hearoes Tour offered free hearing screenings and personalized guidance from the LexCare Team.

For LexCare founder Jaime Motes, this mission is deeply personal.

“Fifteen years ago, my daughter’s profound deafness was missed and overlooked. After years of advocacy for pediatric hearing care, I saw a broader need,” Motes shared. “The VA is especially meaningful to me because they serve so many rural communities. I truly love partnering with teams like Birmingham VA Audiology who are so deeply committed to reaching Veterans where they are.”

Veterans, their spouses, and VA staff were invited to attend these events to receive complimentary hearing screenings, instant results, and valuable information about hearing health. These screenings not only helped identify hearing challenges but also supported Veterans when applying for service-connected benefits related to hearing loss.

“We were grateful to have The LexCare Hearing Foundation visit our Health Care System,” said Dr. Daniel Bell, Birmingham VA Audiology Director. “LexCare provided free hearing screenings to Veterans at each clinic location and helped educate on how to access Audiology services through the Birmingham VA. We are committed to actively engaging with our Veterans and were honored to team up to improve access to our Audiology services.”
