The Birmingham VA Health Care System hosted the Summer VetFest PACT Act Open House event July 28 at the Birmingham East VA Clinic in Irondale, Alabama.

With years of groundwork previously laid, the Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) program at the Birmingham VA Health Care System (BVAHCS) officially launched in March of 2022.

Peter H. King, M.D., chief of the neurology section of the Birmingham VA Health Care System (BVAHCS) was awarded the Wolcott Award for Excellence in Clinical Care Delivery by VA Deputy Under Secretary for Health, Dr. Steven Lieberman. King is also professor in the Department of Neurology, Heersink School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Shortly after high school in 2008, Alex Bruce enlisted in the Air National Guard as an Air Transportation Specialist while attending nursing school.

The Huntsville VA Clinic introduced its new mammography service on March 29, 2023, for women Veterans in northern Alabama.

“It was one of the worst attacks I had been in since being in Vietnam,” said U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Stephen Peagler.
