Dr. Brian D. Westlake is the Associate Director at the James J. Peters, VAMC.
Dr. Brian Westlake is joining us as the Associate Director for the James J. Peters VA Medical Center on April 22, 2024. In this role, Dr. Westlake will work with directly the team to direct the operations, finances, and administrative programs of JJPVAMC, which serves approximately 25,000 individual Veterans at the Medical center as well as Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Yonkers, Queens and White Plains, New York. The Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare system providing tertiary care to veterans with 311 authorized beds and 80 Nursing Home Care Units and a homeless domiciliary program.
Dr. Westlake is a graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton University with a Bachelor’s in Biology and the State University of New York Upstate Medical University with a Bachelor in Health Sciences, Master’s of Professional Studies of Physical Therapy and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Dr. Westlake started his VA career at the Syracuse VAMC in 2000 working as a physical therapist. In 2005 he transferred the Canandaigua VAMC which is now part of the VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System. Over the course of his VA career Dr. Westlake has held several leadership roles including Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Manager, Geriatrics Extended Care and Rehabilitation Care Line Manager, Group Practice Manager, Medical VA Care Line Manager, Chief of Clinical and Strategic Development and Acting Associate Director at JJPVAMC, all with the focus on maximizing the value of health care delivered to Veterans.
