VA Central Iowa breaks ground on Marshalltown clinic

Des Moines , IA — Central Iowa Veterans Affairs Medical Center started construction on a nearly 12,000 square foot facility to serve Veterans in and around Marshalltown with a groundbreaking ceremony Monday.

The new Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) will provide primary medical and specialty care to a Veterans in the area.

The facility is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024.

“When completed, the VA will continue providing the best medical care possible to our Veterans in this area,” Kurt Thielen, interim director of the VA Central Iowa Health Care system.

The new facility will be located at 201 E. Merle Hibbs Boulevard and replace the existing location on Iowa Avenue.

Thielen was joined at the ceremony by is Lisa Jensen, CBOC primary care physician supervisor, Jeff McDonald, VA engineer, Erin Dingman, CBOC nurse manager, Thielen, Eric Card, presidentC2 Construction, and John Hall, Marshalltown Chamber of Commerce.

VA has recently built new CBOCs in Knoxville, Mason City, Fort Dodge and a Primary Care Clinic on in South Des Moines.
