DES MOINES, Iowa-- Each Tuesday, a small group of Veterans meet at the Grounds for Celebration café to knit or crochet while sharing conversation and coffee.

VA Central Iowa hosted a PACT Act awareness meeting Thursday that saw 345 Veterans, family members, caregivers, and survivors attend to learn more about the new law that expands benefits for thousands of Iowa Veterans.

Dr. James T. Quann always knew he wanted to attend the Naval Academy. What he didn’t know was how that experience and his service as a Marine Corps officer would shape him as a surgeon who teaches surgical residents to care for his fellow Veterans.

Veteran athletes

Rich was a patient and resident at the Community Living Center (CLC) at the Des Moines VA hospital campus and required 24/7 care. He had moved here from Nebraska as he required care that best fit services offered at the Central Iowa campus. The CLC is a long-term care facility.
