Community Residential Care Program (CRC)
The Community Residential Care (CRC) Program provides enriched housing to eligible Veterans, who are not in need of hospitalization or nursing home placement, but because of medical or mental health conditions, would benefit from living in a CRC setting. Veterans are required to be both psychiatrically and medically stable.
CRC allows Veterans to improve independence and develop social skills in the least restrictive environment. The VA CRC program staff provides oversight to VA-approved homes/facilities whose staff provide services and support to Veterans enrolled in the program.
The cost to live in the CRC home is privately paid for by the Veteran. The VA CRC program can assist with helping the Veteran in understanding the rates and resources available to pay for the care.

CRC Supports Provided
- Case Management
- Care Coordination with VA Providers
- Liaison support with the CRC Sponsor and VHA
- Yearly home inspections to ensure compliance with VA standards
- Ongoing Sponsor training and education
Monthly home visits (at a minimum)
