Supply chain disruptions affecting CT Scans at Central Texas Veterans Health Care System
Due to unprecedented COVID-related supply chain disruptions, hospitals in the United States are experiencing a shortage of contrast media (sometimes referred to as X-ray dye) used to perform CT scans.
As a result, The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System’s ability to perform these scans, in all but the most critical of cases, may be limited until the supply chain issues are corrected. This disruption is anticipated to last until at least the end of July.
In the meantime, our team is exploring strategies to conserve contrast media, including using other imaging technologies and materials. As always, we are committed to providing the best possible care to our patients. We will continue to keep you informed on this issue. and if you have any questions further please talk with your provider.
