Peter Rosenthal MD

Having first joined the VA in 1994, he became a full-time attending in 1996. During his career at this VA center, he practiced all major diagnostic imaging modalities provided by the departments of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, building a rich array of clinical skills and experience. He also taught radiology residents, did quality management projects such as ensuring timely follow up of X-ray findings potentially representing cancer, and researched the links between silent sinusitis and cardiovascular disease. 

After retirement from full-time practice in December 2019, Dr. Rosenthal rejoined the VA to provide part-time general radiology services to Veterans in the VISN 7 region of the south-eastern United States. In this role, he is responsible for X-ray exams using fluoroscopy to evaluate the upper intestinal tract, and interpreting standard plain X-rays for veterans in all outpatient and most inpatient settings. He is passionate about [the Department of Veteran Affair’s commitment to serving our Veterans. 

Dr. Rosenthal earned a his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1978, followed by internship and rotations in the major medical and surgical specialties. He then served in a General Practice for two years, before commencing his radiology residency training in 1985, again at the University of the Witwatersrand. From 1989 to 1994, he was an instructor and attending in radiology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
