At the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System, excellence in care is more than just a mission—it’s a commitment embodied by compassionate professionals like Shreeta Brathwaite, an Audiology Health Technician at the Savannah Community-Based Outpatient Clinic.

For Veterans who rely on hearing aids, communication is everything. It allows them to engage with loved ones, stay connected to the world around them, and improve their overall quality of life. Shreeta understands this deeply and approaches her work with a personal commitment to service.

"It feels amazing," Shreeta shared. "When Veterans come in, I welcome them as if they’re coming from home. I don’t know what their experiences have been outside those doors, but I want them to feel comfortable here. I greet them with a smile and find a way to connect with them by just being myself."

Shreeta’s ability to form genuine connections with Veterans has made her a favorite among patients. She listens, understands their concerns, and takes the extra steps necessary to ensure they receive the best care possible.

Veterans who have worked with Shreeta have shared glowing reviews about her dedication, kindness, and expertise:

“Outstanding would be the best word to describe Ms. Brathwaite! Shreeta took time to carefully listen to my concerns and provided a solution that was immediately helpful to my problem. She offered kindness with her concerns and made me feel important, as if I was the only Veteran in the building.”

“Shreeta was great! She made us very comfortable and handled our situation with extreme kindness. I appreciate her and her support to make sure my hearing aid was repaired. While waiting for the repair, she gave a temporary solution, so my hearing was not interrupted.”

“Shreeta Brathwaite, the audiology health technician, is the best. She greeted me with a smile. As we walked to her work area, she was talking to me. Shreeta has an uplifting spirit. I have another appointment with her in February, and I'll be happy to see her again. She is my favorite!”

“I am 100% satisfied with the service, care, and attitude I received. The Tech, Shreeta, took care of me and made me feel I was #1. She ensured I had no questions unanswered and that I was 100% satisfied with the equipment I received and that I was properly trained on how to use it.”

For Shreeta, her role goes beyond troubleshooting hearing aid issues—it’s about building trust and making a difference in the lives of the Veterans she serves. She emphasizes active listening, connection, and presence as key components of providing excellent care.

"I try to get an understanding of what their needs are and meet them where they are. The connection for me is active listening, finding something we have in common, sharing stories, listening, being present, and just being real," she said.

With a background rooted in military service—her spouse, parent, and child all having served—Shreeta feels a deep personal connection to the Veteran community.

"Serving with heart means I’m serving with a caring attitude, with love, as if they were my own family members," she explained. "I’ve been surrounded by the military community my entire life, and I know the importance of listening and learning from the experiences Veterans share. It helps me serve them better."

Shreeta takes great pride in ensuring every Veteran she assists leaves with solutions to their problems and confidence in their hearing care. Whether it’s repairing hearing aids, ordering new equipment, or helping Veterans navigate their audiology care, she is always looking for ways to provide top-tier service with compassion.

"Putting your hand to the plow means moving forward and not looking back. It means taking steps to assist the Veteran in every way possible. That’s how you provide excellent service," she said.

Her passion, dedication, and ability to bring joy to others have made her an indispensable part of the Savannah CBOC and a beloved figure among Veterans.

"I’m overjoyed that I bring joy to their lives—just by being myself," she added.

The Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System is proud to honor Shreeta Brathwaite as March’s Ambassador of Excellence. Her unwavering dedication to Veterans, her ability to listen and connect, and her passion for service truly set her apart.
