Jesse Brown VAMC Press Conference

Chicago, IL– Media members are invited to attend a press conference happening at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center Courtyard at 1 p.m. on May 8, 2023. Event is happening to announce the kickoff of Veterans Information Week in partnership with Alderman Raymond Lopez (15th).

Seeking to expand outreach and service accessibility in several southwest side communities, the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center is partnering with Alderman Raymond Lopez (15th) for the inaugural Veterans Information Week May 8th thru May 12th.

Veterans Information Week kicks off Monday, May 8th, with a tour of the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center located at 820 South Damen Avenue. Jesse Brown is home to some of the newest and most cutting-edge services available to veterans, including Telehealth, Transition Care Management, and Women’s Health Programs.

Veterans Information Week will share information on benefits, enrollment, and the PACT Act legislation that Congress recently passed. The PACT Act is a new law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other Toxic substances.

Information will be provided about the Minority Veterans Program. The Minority Veteran Program (MVP) implements VA’s commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access for all veterans. The Minority Veteran Program assists in identifying gaps in service delivery through outreach, advocacy, and community collaboration. MVP is focusing on understanding psychosocial barriers and cultural nuances in historically underrepresented communities to optimize engagement in the VA.

The Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs Medical Center (JBVAMC) is a 220-bed inpatient facility located in the Illinois Medical District in Chicago, Illinois. The Jesse Brown VAMC also operates four Community Based Outpatient Clinics throughout the Chicago area: Lakeside VA Clinic in downtown Chicago -Auburn Gresham VA Clinic in Chicago’s south side -Chicago Heights VA Clinic in Chicago Heights, Illinois -Adam Benjamin, Jr. VA Outpatient Clinic in Crown Point, Indiana, which serves all of four counties and parts of two other counties in Northwestern Indiana.
