Sharing is Caring: Tell a Buddy About Your VA Care

By Dorilis Camacho Torres, Public Affairs Officer
Battle buddies have a special, often lifelong, bond.
Veterans shared unique experiences and connect in ways unfamiliar to those who have not served in the military. Sometimes, between jokes and lighthearted memories a cry for help may come through. It can be the subtle mention of a spouse moving out, a persistent cough or limb every time you grab a beer, or an unexpected change in mood that can prompt a ‘battle buddy’ check or a ‘come to Jesus’ talk among Veterans.
In those crucial moments, Veterans may only listen to a few trusted friends or family members. The Buddy Card initiative is here to help you help your ‘battle buddy’ connect with Veterans Affairs in their moments of need. Buddy Cards are small cards you can keep in your wallet and share with any Veteran you encounter. The card has all the information necessary for Veterans to enroll in VA care or connect with the Jesse Brown team for help with eligibility and enrollment.
What are Veterans say about the care at Jesse Brown VA:
ABJ's [Adam Benjamin Jr.] Audiology was fantastic. She answered all my questions and repaired my hearing aids for me. She was very friendly and professional. I really enjoy visiting the AB, it's always a pleasant experience and means a lot not just to me. Thank You again. -From Patient Experience Survey, May 2025
The care I received at Jesse Brown VA hospitals was second to none. While in the Gold Clinic, I was cared for by Dr. Dhir. She is excellent in every way. Then yesterday, while in the Dermatology Department, I was treated by the superb medical staff there. They worked swiftly and efficiently, attending to my concerns and listening to all my questions, answering them in a manner that was easy for me to understand. I look forward to returning to Jesse Brown and I am very confident that this is the right place for me. -From Patient Experience Survey, May 2025
I am very happy and satisfied with the Women’s Clinic. All the staff have been caring, helpful and professional. I appreciate and feel Bless[ed] to have this service provided to me. Thank you. -From Patient Experience Survey, April 2025
The Blue Clinic staff at the JBVAMC has provided me with high-quality and professional health care over the past 19 years. -From Patient Experience Survey, April 2025
