Since 1978, the Department of Veterans Affairs has designated the week of Valentine’s Day, from February 9-15, to commemorate Veterans by facilitating visits to those who are hospitalized, promoting volunteer opportunities, and accepting Valentine’s Day cards.

"We are incredibly thankful to our North Central WV community for their overwhelming interest in getting involved and honoring our Veterans each and every day," says Michael White, Chief of the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE). "Each of you remind us that every day is Veteran's Day at the VA! This week, during National Salute to Veteran Patients Week, we are especially grateful for our community's involvement—whether it's as VA Volunteers, generous donors sending Valentine's to our hospitalized Veterans, or those reaching out as interested Volunteer drivers to help meet the increasing need for transportation support across rural West Virginia."

For those interested in getting involved as a VA Volunteer or VA Volunteer Driver, please contact the CDCE office at 304-623-7621 or send us an email at VHACLAVOLUNTEER@va.gov. Virtual Valentine's can be emailed to the address above! If you wish to mail Valentine's or cards anytime of the year, please send them to:

Together, let's make every day a day to honor our Veterans!
